Zipporah “Zippy” Onyimbo-Ngarama MSW/ LSW was born and raised in Kenya. Zippy has a passion for people and a compassionate approach to care. She has volunteered on mission ventures for the church and at community-based entities for approximately 30 years in areas including Kenya, Ethiopia, and the USA. Current Spiritual community involvements include Community Fellowship Church and other international ministry communities based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Other community involvements include serving as an advisory board member for Millersville University’s School of Social Work and as a volunteer with Grape Leaf Empowerment Center. Zippy’s career track includes working in the child and adult mental health care field, human resource consultancy, and office management. Until January 2022, she was employed as a Licensed Social Worker at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health where she served pregnant women from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Zippy is a certified English/Swahili Medical Interpreter. She was also employed as a bilingual English/Swahili Sexual Assault Prevention Counselor/ Educator and Therapist at the Lancaster YWCA. Throughout her professional involvement, she has supervised several Master of Social Work student interns. Zippy holds a Certificate in Discipleship in Ministry from Rosedale Bible Institute, a Bachelor of Arts degree- Social Work major and International Studies minor- from Millersville University, and a masters degree in social work administration/Social Management and Planning from Temple University. She is pursuing her doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Northcentral University.
